76 years ago today…..

It’s the first anniversary of the dedication of the Stinson Memorial on Burke and Wills Track, Mia Mia. Locals report that visitor numbers are steady and when the author visited today, there were three other visitors present at the time and engaged in quiet reading of the information board.

Over the preceding months, regular maintenance of the surrounding areas has seen the grass cut, a cut grass path connecting to the First Flight Monument maintained and the start of some planting of native trees around the site. The trees have been well cared for as they are all surviving despite the weather and rainfall patterns in this area.

A rosemary and purple statice spray was placed on the memorial today in remembrance of our relatives and friends on behalf of all those who could not be here in person.

    1. Thank you, Keith, for stopping by here. I’m hoping that, weather permitting, we will see some further planting around the site that should contribute to it becoming a comfortable and welcoming place to pause and reflect.
